Fishery Report » Mount Falcon Country House Hotel
[ August 2008 ]
Jim Wilson reports that the first week in August saw 18 salmon of the fishery. Among these were first fish for Tom Slater from Donegal, and the Hussongs (father an son) from Switzerland.
Despite the loss of three days fishing due to excessively high water, we recorded a very respectable 19 fish in the second week. The Whitwell party had 7 salmon in three days. Mark Nulty and Mrs Andrew Moore both recorded their first fish.
Week 3 saw 33 salmon caught. Regular visitors The Davisons had 14 salmon in three days. Robert Platais from England who up until his visit had never caught a salmon, caught three within the space of an hour. However the week belonged to the ladies with Mandy Williams catching four salmon (best 9.5 lbs), and Maureen Justice landing a 9lb fish on her first ever days fishing.
With water levels slowly dropping and the river cleaning, the fishing improved during the last week, with 50 fish caught. This included 3 fish on the fly on the last day of the month. All pools are currently holding a good stock of fish and we look forward to a good end to the season.
