Mount Falcon Country House HotelStuart Price reports that October started with very high water that only dropped slowly even after three weeks with no significant rain this was due to the very high water in Lough Conn feeding into the Moy and keeping the lower river high.
The month’s total catch was 165 fish with 101 being released safely to spawn.
Week one sore 24 fish landed regular visitors Martin and Maeve Davison accounting for 8 fish over two days on Worm and spinner.
The following week accounted for 48 fish with successful anglers James Hiles from Belfast 10 fish all retuned including one of 11lbs.
During the third week of the month 42 fish were landed, including 18 on the fly as the water had finally dropped to a fly fishable level best fish 12.8 Lbs on an Orange and Gold shrimp fly from the wall pool.
The final weeks catch was 51 fish mainly taken on a mixture of fly and spinner husband and wife couple Philip and Linda Gosling from the UK caught their first ever Salmon and went on to accounting for 11 fish on the spinner.
The season ended with a total catch of 543 Salmon up on last season by 142.
