[ July 2008 ]
During the first week of July anglers caught a total of 23 salmon. Thease were mainly grilse in the 3lb to 5lb range.
The following week, while numbers were down with 17 salmon, a number of larger fish were caught. Jo Hudgell from England, caught her first ever salmon, a fine 9lbs fish, and sportingly returned another 6lbs salmon.
Vince Taylor also had a first salmon a splendid 12.5lb fish from Connor's Gap. He took a total of 4 fish for his stay with us.
Week 3 saw low water and the fishing slowed down. Despite this septuagenarian Bill Fenelan caught 3 salmon in a day, his best fish being 6lb.
A small rise in water saw the angling improve during the last week and 22 salmon were caught. Notable fish were Sean Ho's (13 year old) first fish and 70 year old Harry Killeens first fish. Following the rain at the end of the month we are now seeing a large number of fish in the river.
